Gold Medalist at the prestigious 5th USA International Harp Competition in 2001, Dan Yu has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia to critical acclaim. She has appeared in solo recitals and chamber concerts at Alice Tully Hall, New York, and Wigmore Hall, London and has been featured in a documentary broadcast worldwide by CCTV 4 in China. In 2011 she gave the Asian premiere of Bright Sheng's Never Far Away for Harp and Orchestra with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Dan Yu has given harp masterclasses in music conservatories in China, at the Royal Academy of Music in London and in the USA. Since moving to Hong Kong in 2008, her students have won prizes at international and national competitions in France, Japan, Russia, Serbia, Korea, mainland China, Hong Kong and the USA. Her recordings include two solo CDs entitled The Nightingale and Spring on the Moonlit River. Dan Yu holds a Bachelor and Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and an Artist Diploma from Indiana University. Currently she is Music Director of the Hong Kong Harp Chamber, and a harp instructor at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Dan Yu was Co-Chair of the Host Committee for the World Harp Congress 2017 held in Hong Kong. In 2013 and 2019 she served on the jury of the USA International Harp Competition.
