Gary Ngan has performed extensively across five continents on both modern and historical violin. A distinguished graduate of Yale University and Eastman School of Music, he also studied Baroque violin and chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, Germany. His awards include First Prizes at the Eastman Concerto Competition, the SIMC Competition in Montserrat and the Vinaròs International Chamber Music Competition in Spain. Following his move to the UK in 2022, Gary Ngan has performed as a guest player with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, London Mozart Players, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra. He has also made appearances with early music and period ensembles including the Britten-Pears Baroque Orchestra, Ex Cathedra, Marches Baroque, Meridian Sinfonia, Musical & Amicable Society and the 18th Century Sinfonia. He is currently the leader of the orchestra for the English Touring Opera. Previously in Hong Kong Gary Ngan performed as the Associate Concertmaster of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong from 2010-2019. He was also an Honorary Artist-in-Residence at The Education University of Hong Kong, a visiting artist at the City University of Hong Kong and a violin lecturer at the Hong Kong Baptist University and The University of Hong Kong.
