Rita Au was born in Hong Kong and received her Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours in clarinet performance from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2006. She also holds a Master of Music degree from the Indiana University Bloomington in the USA. Her mentors include Eli Eban, Howard Klug, John Schertle and Maria Wong. On return to Hong Kong in 2008 she has performed regularly with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the Macao Orchestra. She has also played in numerous musicals and operatic productions. In 2014 she joined the woodwind quintet Viva!Pipers to give a series of educational concerts for Premiere Performances of Hong Kong. Rita Au became a member of City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong in 2017 and enjoys a dual career as both a performer and a clarinet teacher.
