Colin Touchin is a British conductor, composer, clarinettist, recorder player, festival adjudicator and broadcaster. His distinguished career includes fifteen years as Director of Music at the University of Warwick, and conductor of award-winning ensembles including the University of Warwick Chamber Choir, Warwickshire County Youth Orchestra and Birmingham Schools’ Wind Orchestra. He has conducted the National Youth Wind Orchestras of Great Britain, Wales, Luxembourg and Hong Kong and has founded several ensembles in the UK, notably the Spires Philharmonic Orchestra, Chorus and Youth Orchestra in Coventry and the National Youth Recorder Orchestras. He has also been involved in the National School Band Association Festivals in the UK and the National Youth Recorder Orchestras in Holland, Australia and the UK. His compositions and arrangements have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and RTHK Radio 4 including his wind band composition Eclipse which was the selected set piece for the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in 2014. Colin Touchin has also been active in music education on an international scale and has conducted and led workshops for students and teachers in over 20 countries. Currently based in Hong Kong, he is Musical Director of the Hong Kong Welsh Male Voice Choir, Grace Notes a capella female choir and guest conductor of the Tak-Ming Philharmonic Winds. For RTHK Radio 4 he hosts a weekly programme on Saturday mornings. He has guest conducted the Hong Kong Police Band, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong in concert with singing star Hayley Westenra and numerous performances of The Snowman & The Bear since 2011. He is Chief Conductor of the Lufthansa Orchestra in Frankfurt.
